In 2010 Madlib launched the Madlib Medicine Show Series - an ambitious undertaking that saw Madlib release a new title on a monthly basis - which kept him busy into 2011. The series debuted with Before The Verdict with Guilty Simpson, a seventeen track rap outing with the Detroit MC. In addition to being the debut of Madlib's Medicine Show Series the release also served as a prelude to Guilty Simpson's OJ Simpson album, his collaboration with Madlib from later that year. Before The Verdict, an action-adventure psycho-thriller in the form of a full-length rap album. is back on print on vinyl for RSD Black Friday 2023.

Featuring three co-writes by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and guitar guests like Stephen Carpenter of the Deftones and Jonah Matranga of Far and Onelinedrawing, Taproot's Blue-Sky Research tapped a more melodic vein than its predecessors and sold well in 2005 on the strength of such singles as "Calling" and "Birthday." It proved to be their last album for Atlantic, though, which probably explains why it has never seen a vinyl release. Our reissue comes with an inner sleeve housing a (natch) "blue sky" vinyl pressing limited to 1500 copies worldwide.

Todd Whitener, Jesse Vest, and Matt Taul got fired from Days of the New, but they had the last laugh, forming Tantric and recording this self-titled, Gold-selling album in 2001 for Madonna's Maverick label with producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica, Korn) at the controls.
Never-before-released on vinyl, this acoustic-tinged, grunge/nu-metal classic emerges here in an orange vinyl pressing inside a jacket with inner sleeve. Limited to 1500 copies worldwide.

After Austin-based Scratch Acid disbanded, caterwauling vocalist David Yow and bassist David Wm. Sims moved to Chicago, where they formed The Jesus Lizard and proceed to make a glorious racket throughout the ‘90s. Produced by Gang of Four's Andy Gill and featuring new drummer Jim Kimball, 1998's Blue is their sixth and final studio album, and it's one of their most diverse, even delving into jazz (!) on "Until It Stopped to Die." But other tracks, like "And Then the Rain" and "Postcoital Glow," deliver TJL's trademark mix of menace and borderline psychosis; this band remains among the most defiantly uncommercial acts ever signed to a major label. Reissued on LP for the first time, in a metallic blue vinyl pressing limited to 2500 copies worldwide.
I Can Learn; Horse Doctor Man; Eucalyptus; A Tale of Two Women; Cold Water; And Then the Rain; Postcoital Glow; Until It Stopped to Die; Soft Damage; Happy Snakes; Needles for Teeth (Version); Terremoto

This expanded edition presents all seven tracks from the original album, plus three songs that appear here for the first time on vinyl, and five previously unreleased alternate takes. 3 Feet High and Rising is the debut studio album by hip-hop trio De La Soul, and was released on March 3, 1989. It marked the first of three full-length collaborations with producer Prince Paul, which would become the critical and commercial peak of both parties. It contains the singles, “Me Myself and I”, “The Magic Number,” “Buddy,” and “Eye Know”. The album title came from the Johnny Cash song “Five Feet High and Rising”. It is listed on both Rolling Stone’s 200 Essential Rock Records and The Source’s 100 Best Rap Albums. When Village Voice held its annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll for 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was ranked #1. It was also listed on Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Released amid the 1989 boom in gangsta rap, which gravitated towards hardcore, confrontational, violent lyrics, De La Soul's uniquely positive style made them an oddity beginning with the first single, “Me, Myself and I.” Their positivity meant many observers labeled them a “hippie” group, based on their declaration of the “D.A.I.S.Y. Age” (Da. Inner. Soul. Yall). Sampling artists as diverse as Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and The Turtles, 3 Feet High and Rising is often viewed as the stylistic beginning of 1990s alternative hip hop (and especially jazz rap). 3 Feet High & Rising was chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry for its cultural significance and general excellence.
This special boxset release of De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising includes twelve 7” custom singles pressed on splatter vinyl and housed in custom sleeves, housed in a box that includes a 7” pinup and a double-sided 7” slipmat, and is available first at record stores as part of RSD Black Friday. "

The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Live from the Northwest, 1959 is the newest release from Brubeck Editions, the family run label that only puts out music of the highest musical and technical quality. These exciting performances were recorded by the trailblazing and iconic audio engineer, Wally Heider, who pioneered the art of remote recording from his "studio on wheels". The sound he achieved is stellar, and this is perhaps the best live recording you can hear of one of the most popular jazz groups of all time. The tapes were recorded in April 1959 at the Multnomah Jazz Club and Clark College, both in the Portland Oregon area. Four months later, the Dave Brubeck Quartet recorded their legendary LP, Time Out, and changed the course of jazz forever. This new LP showcases the poll-winning quartet at the peak of their improvisational powers, especially demonstrating their unique mastery of improvising counterpoint (a musical device updated from Bach) while swinging through jazz standards and original compositions.
These master musicians, (Dave along with Paul Desmond, Eugene Wright and Joe Morello) transcend time. The new Live from the Northwest - 1959 LP is sure to be a hit with audiophiles, Dave Brubeck fans, jazz aficionadas and lovers of great and timeless music around the world. Listening to this new release, you will feel like you are sitting in the jazz club fully immersed in high fidelity sound, on a night when the incomparable Dave Brubeck Quartet was firing on all cylinders!

The music Charles Mingus and his group (including the legendary Eric Dolphy) recorded during his landmark 1960 sessions for Candid Records—the first in which he was given total creative freedom—produced three of the most revered jazz albums of the era. INCARNATIONS is the fourth great Mingus album to emerge from those historic sessions: a new masterpiece thoughtfully assembled from rare and unreleased material that stands proudly in the Mingus canon of masterworks. Presented in a heavyweight sleeve with period-perfect artwork, liner notes by Pitchfork and Rolling Stone contributor Hank Shteamer, audio restored and remastered by Bernie Grundman, and pressed on 180g vinyl, INCARNATIONS is the Mingus masterpiece nobody knew they were missing.

Level Headed was without doubt the most distinctive album Sweet ever produced. It is both varied in itself and very different from almost anything that they had released before. In a lot of ways, it was Sweet taking a risk. It shows many aspects of the band that are easily overlooked on previous albums and unseen aspects for the first time. The album gave them their final Top Ten hit with the dreamy "Love Is Like Oxygen," a single that has become a staple for the band. This release includes never released alternative mixes and demos from the original release. Pressed on Clear Blue Vinyl.

Dallas-based Shabazz 3 originally released their only LP, 2000’s Late Nite With Shabazz 3, on CD and double vinyl on their own Longevity Records, with minimal distribution. Released as a limited run of 300, the album has since become a collector's item selling for $200+ on the secondary market. Fusing elements of jazz and hip hop, Late Nite With Shabazz 3 is recommended for those who like golden era ‘90s West Coast hip-hop like Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief.

2009 debut album on Century Media Records from the electro-metal-trip-hop-dance-jazz pioneers from Shreveport, LA, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, produced by Ryan Boesch (Norma Jean). Get your booties on because metal just got way more interesting. Iwrestledabearonce combines elements of brutal metal, hardcore and mathcore with some ambient music and electro beats and a good dose of humor. This means spastic, hectic music with a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The record is loaded with cool beats and samples, adding to the mayhem even more. Topping off all this noise are female vocals that range from grunts to screams, but also clean sung passages which makes the whole of the band a bit poppy, be it that there are some heavy as &%#@ breakdowns and bashing metal parts. It looks like there is fun for everyone on It’s All Happening! The album segues from guitarists Steven Bradley and John Ganey's syncopated spastic riffs to dance-floor-ready rhythms and beats courtesy of bassist Mike "Rickshaw" Martin and drummer Mikey Montgomery. Above this explosion of styles, vocalist Krysta Cameron screams with precise brutality, before crooning out hauntingly ethereal passages. On cuts like "Danger in the Manger" and "You Ain't No Family," her voice swings like a sledgehammer from bludgeoning to beautiful. The band's charm lies in their sonic sense of ADD — catapulting "The Cat's Pajamas" and "Pazuzu For The Win" from battle-ready math metal to danceable hip-hop doused in jazz for good measure.
This RSD Black Friday release includes a 12x12 full color insert and a 12x18 band poster.
